Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP)
The Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP®) credential, awarded by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), recognizes individuals who have proven expertise in managing the procurement of electricity and natural gas. The program covers a comprehensive Body of Knowledge including:
- Energy market structures, legislation, and outlook
- Strategic sourcing and purchasing processes
- Metering, load profiling, and real-time pricing
- Energy trading, risk management, and marketing fundamentals

Eligibility and Certification Process:
- Requires a combination of education and relevant work experience (e.g., bachelor’s degree + 3 years; associate degree + 5 years; or 10+ years of direct experience), or current CEM status (aeecenter.org).
- Applicants must complete an approved 3?day training program, pass the certification exam, and meet ongoing renewal requirements every 3 years via CEUs or re?examination (aeecenter.org).
