Since their establishment, the two companies that now represent the Mangiarsano-Germinal Group have been highly dedicated to the concept of sustainability: Germinal, which was established during the 1970s on the ideological basis of the cultural revolution that attacked the foundations of the industrial establishment, its products and the damages provoked by them, proposed a return to the fundamental values of nutrition with what would come to be known as macrobiotic and organic foods, in contrast to the chemically and technologically sophisticated food products that were increasingly being produced by the food industry. Mangiarsano, whose name (meaning healthy eating) explicates the companys own mission, soon initiated independent research and experimentation activities aimed at refining their own recipes and formulations. These activities would allow the company to develop wholesome, nourishing and healthy food products, while reconciling the required characteristics with the increasingly complex and efficient industrial production processes. In the meantime, Italys organic culture was expanding, feeding upon the experiences of farmers, producers and various other companies that were dedicated to healthy eating and environmental protection. Today, within this framework, were trying summarize that which we have accomplished in recent years and to determine the areas in which well be involved in the future. This will serve to consolidate the value of sustainability within our company, as well as to illustrate how this concept has always been and still remains essential to our business activities, as well as to the process of designing realistic development model.
