The EcoCocon straw wall system is revolutionising construction by making the best of natural materials while ensuring healthy, comfortable, and energy-efficient living at the same time.
The main building blocks are structural timber-straw wall elements that are made to measure and can accommodate any type of building design. Thanks to a special straw pressing technology, the panels achieve excellent insulation properties.
Together with interior clay plaster, and exterior airtight membrane, and a protective layer of wood fibre board, the system is Passivhaus standard certified, achieving the U-value of 0.123 W/m2K. The entire system is vapor-permeable and provides exceptional indoor comfort.
An average EcoCocon panel is composed of 10% timber and 89% straw. They are made of locally sourced natural materials that do not undergo any chemical treatment during the production process. Precision-cut and prefabricated, the panels are designed for quick and easy assembly, only requiring basic carpentry tools.
EcoCocon is the only building component with both Passivhaus and Cradle to Cradle certifications. It was created to have a minimal ecological footprint and to be safely returned to nature after use.
