The beginnings of Lidl go back to the 30s, when the company was founded in Swabian as food assortment wholesaler. Today Lidl is active among the top 10 of the German food retail trade and the international group of companies with independent national companies throughout Europe. After the opening of the first Lidl stores around Ludwigshafen in the 70s, the expansion within Germany until the late 80s and the international commitment since the beginning of the 90's today consist branches in almost all European countries.
