BIT Building

The existing buildings market has been led by the success of LEED for Existing Buildings, the US Green Building CouncilÕs suite of rating systems targeted at buildings currently in operation. That program has created a new standard for green building operations, and defined the term itself for the highest performing buildings in the marketplace. But the vast majority of existing buildings lack the personnel and financial resources to fully engage with LEED, or their building performance currently falls short of LEEDÕs standards for certification. Some 75% of existing buildings operate below LEEDÕs required threshold for energy performance alone. These buildings want to be more sustainable; they need to be more sustainable. And now a program exists to help them get there. OUR MISSION: The BIT Building Program provides structure, peer support, expert guidance, and public recognition for buildings working to reduce their operational impacts on the environment.
